    Filters + Air Purification

Air filters go a long way to making sure that your home’s air is as healthy and safe as possible. Air purifiers can help alleviate allergies, asthma symptoms, and even chemical sensitivities. Besides health benefits, air purification units are great for neutralizing odors and smoke, trapping harmful particles, and eliminating germs.

As great as air purification units are, filters don’t last forever. It’s important to make sure you don’t let too much time lapse between changing your air filters.

    Why Replace Filters Regularly?

Just like on a car, when air filters aren’t changed regularly, they begin to build up particles and substances that can be harmful. When you go too long without changing your air filter, things like dust, hair, and allergens can get lodged in the filter. Any air that passes through that filter ultimately passes through these obstructions as well, eventually leading to a decrease in overall air quality. Old filters can also mess with an air purification units’ overall function, since it may need to work harder to push the same amount of air through said filter.

When you have a clean air filter you can breathe easier, knowing the air you are breathing is being filtered properly.

How Frequently Should You Replace Your Air Purifiers filter?

How often you replace your air purification unit’s filters depends on several favors. Frequency of usage, water quality, and the type of filter you’ve previously used all affect how long you should go between changing filters. For example, houses with more allergens like pet air will have a shorter schedule than houses with generally cleaner air. Additionally, those with allergies might want to change filters more often

Here is a helpful guide to help you gauge the general lifespan of your air filter:

Carbon Filters should be replaced every 3-6 months.

HEPA Filters should be replaced every 12-18 months.

Pre-Filters Should be cleaned monthly and replaced when necessary.

Permanent Filters should be cleaned every three months. If they are damaged you should replace them.
